Mouser Electronics is the fastest growing electronics distributor in North America. A sign of the company’s aggressive focus on customer service, Mouser is the only catalog distributor of electronic components to publish a new 1,600+ page print catalog every 90 days. The company’s online store now offers more than 550,000 products as well. Because of Mouser’s fast growth and expanding product selection, the company needed to more than double the size of its existing facility.

The 231,800 SF expansion built with tilt-up construction features approximately 48,500 SF for office, call center and data center space. It includes two floors with a structural first floor with crawlspace, in a new building with a shared wall with the old office space; to connect old and new office space Bob Moore Construction saw-cut through the existing wall and poured the new floor directly up to the old floor to create seamless walkways. The new 3,400 SF data center features access flooring and a pre-action fire suppression system. It connects to multiple power sources and to three dedicated fiber communications lines to ensure uninterrupted Internet operations, a core component of Mouser’s global sales operation.

A 3,000 SF two-story rotunda provides a dramatic new main entrance to the office area. The rotunda is a totally radiused, curtain-wall structure. It is internally drained, with 22 roof and overflow drains. A louvered sunshade system rings the rotunda 13’ above the terrazzo stone floor. Two radiused monument staircases with rolled steel and aircraft cable handrails surround the open reception area. The exterior is topped with Alucabond pre-finished metal panels with structural steel outrigger supports. To provide the modern look the client wanted, much of the rotunda’s steel was left exposed, including the girders, columns, stairs and stair stringers. To make this steel look finished all welds were ground smooth, with its surfaces finished and painted to match the design color scheme.

Along with the office space, the addition more than doubled the existing warehouse facilities. The new 180,000 SF warehouse is 100% lit and climate conditioned; the interior is 100% finished with impact resistant sheetrock and painted ceilings. The new and old warehouses are connected with 24’ x 18’ tie-ins to integrate the different facilities. A mezzanine area provides additional space for administrative functions, and beneath mezzanine is a large static-dissipative area connected to the warehousing, for storage of products that require greater protection against static discharge. The warehouse also includes two satellite office cores for warehouse management and administrative personnel.

The automated, wireless warehouse supports Mouser’s paperless systems in sales and order fulfillment. This advanced warehouse will play a key role in supporting Mouser’s customer service philosophy, where the company fully process orders, from initial receipt all the way to delivery in as little as 15 minutes and ships any orders received by 8 p.m. the same day.

As part of the expansion project we recreated the FM 157 and Highway 287 business interchange. For this aspect of the project Bob Moore Construction widened the interchange, asphalt-overlaid FM 157 and redirected Highway 287.

With the expansion complete, the facility’s size grew from 173,000 to 402,000 SF, making it the second-largest building in Mansfield The largest building in Mansfield, the 455,000 Pier 1 Imports Distribution Center, was also built by Bob Moore Construction. With 470 employees currently on staff, Mouser is already the largest private employer in this Fort Worth, Texas suburb.

Bob Moore Construction was invited to return to Mouser to deliver a large warehouse addition. Tied into the south section of the warehouse, the addition increases the size of the facility by 192,415 SF. Mouser Electronics is now the largest building in Mansfield.

In late 2018, Bob Moore Construction was invited to return once again to Mouser to build a 128,650 square-foot expansion to the distribution.  The project is slated to be completed in late 2019.

Bob Moore Construction has been invited once again to return to Mouser for yet another addition to accommodate the company’s continual growth. This addition will be a 400,000 square-foot facility connected to the main building via sky bridge. Once complete, the facility will stand at 1,019,151 square-feet.
