Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) The
Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) is America's oldest and largest
construction industry trade association. The AGC was organized in 1919 to address
problems discovered during World War I with the country's inability to mobilize
commercial construction companies in response to national emergencies.
Since
then, the AGC has evolved into the leading commercial construction industry trade
organization in Washington DC. They coordinate with OSHA, EPA and other government
agencies on regulations, lobby politicians to influence legislation and participate
in judicial actions that affect the industry. The AGC is also represented by
100 local chapters around the United States. The Dallas Chapter, the first AGC
Chapter in Texas, was formed in 1924; the Fort Worth Chapter was established one
year later. These chapters merged in 2001 and were named QUOIN. In 2009 the organization
changed its name to TEXO. For more information, please visit the AGC website
at www.agc.org.
Bob Moore Construction has provided an extensive article
on AGC which is available at General
Contractor.com. Bob Moore Construction Company and AGCBob Moore
Construction has been one of the most active commercial construction companies
in Texas in TEXO / AGC / QUOIN for many years. Larry
Knox, Vice President of Preconstruction, was chosen to serve a three-year term
as a member of TEXO's Board of Directors. As a member of the Board of Directors,
Larry provides leadership, oversight and direction to the chapter. Initiatives
taken on by the board include representing the industry's interests in the development
of federal, state and local legislation; driving better business practices in
the community regarding environmental control, safety and productivity; working
with community officials to improve business development opportunities in the
region; and expanding the organization's membership. Bob Moore Construction
has supported a variety of TEXO activities and fundraisers, including participation
in the Fall Classic Golf Tournament and sponsorship of a skeet shoot to raise
funds for QUOIN's Education and Research Foundation. For two years, the
company sponsored the Design / Build portion of the Student Competition, providing
the case study for the competition, coordinating selection of judges, organizing
the event and participating in the competition and awards ceremony. Two
Bob Moore Construction company employees, Jason Cole and Matt Bauer, participate
in QUOIN's Young Constructors Council, supporting a variety of group activities
including a Meet the Legislators event in Austin, Texas. Jason Cole was named
Vice Chair for the Young Constructors Council in 2008. Safety Director Dino
Sideris served on TEXO's Safety Resource Leadership Group, a select group of TEXO
safety professionals who drive greater quality and awareness in safety throughout
the local AGC community. A sign of his standing and stature with the group, Dino
was elected by its members to serve as Vice Chair for this prestigious committee. Mr.
Sideris is also a member of the Texas
Building Branch - AGC Safety Committee; in this capacity he influences laws
and regulatory requirements that impact the industry throughout the entire state.
Sideris has also participated regularly on TEXO's Safety Forum, a group of local
AGC members who meet monthly to discuss and resolve common safety-related issues
in a consistent manner. Bob Moore Construction encourages you to call today
and speak with one of their construction professionals, who can answer your questions
